Flower Baby and dolls blanket

Dolls Blanket
Cot blanket
Delivered my first self-designed and knitted commissioned piece today.  A mum at a local toddler group had trouble finding just the right design and colour of cot blanket to go with her newly decorated nursery. She is another crafter and so had designed and made accessories for the room herself and wanted a blanket to match. The key design in her room was a flower which she wanted to be represented in some way on the blanket.  We spent a couple of weeks going back and forward to choosing the design she wanted then I had to work out the pattern and material. She chose the wool type and colours herself at our local wool shop.
It took a couple of attempts to get started and get the tension and sizing right, but after those teething problems the design she chose was very simple. As she has a 3 year old daughter I decided it would be nice if she had a blanket too so she wouldn’t be jealous.
I am glad I did the flowers separate rather than just knitting the design as part of the blanket, it reflects the way they have been used to decorate the rest of the room. I even knitted a couple of extra flowers so that she could use them on other fabric items if she wished.
